Hi, I work for a charity that funds vocational training centres in Tanzania, and we hope to open more across Africa if we get the funding. Many of the kids are orphans of aids or don't have much basic schooling so these skills help them set up their own businesses as tailors or carpenters. To find out more visit www.childreach.org.uk

I am working on establishing a project called MADE: Manufacturing And Design Education in the UK and in the Czech Republic. It is an initiative to establish design and manufacturing centres of excellence to train Design Technologists to be able to assist designers and manufacturers develop new products using recycled and sustainable materials. I am in contact with a number of academic institutions in the UK and Czech Republic and hope to develop Knowledge Transfer Initiatives between suitable institutions. At the moment many UK Universities are involved in developing connections in China and India. I am trying to focus on the emerging Central European states to stimulate an International Network of Designers interested in establishing support for MADE centres and REMADE ECO Business Parks where the product designs will be used to establish new manufacturing units working with recycled and sustainable materials. It would be good to widen out the idea to other countries and would be intersted from hearing from other interested parties including the Branson School for Entrepreneurship.

    Hello,
I wanted to introduce myself; my name is Louis Lautman and I am creating a film about Young Entrepreneurs and wanted to share a bit more about this project with you. We have interviewed 30 of the most successful young entrepreneurs in the United States who have created success at a young age and people who are young at heart and are amazing entrepreneurs. I would like to see if there anyone who can connect me with Richard Branson to spotlight in our film, we would like to give back to Virgin Unite. Please let me know who to talk to about this. I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone. I look forward to speaking with you. Thanks,
    Louis Lautman

When I was in Tanzania in June 2007 I met a young lad called William Kwamwamba who has constructed windmills in his village to power his own house. I consider this a powerful example of enteprise, in this case more social enterprise than capitalist but one still the same.

There is a website called www.afrogadget.com which highlights other examples of enterprise to inspire students.
