Richard attends UN Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen

Richard recently attended the UN Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen. He opened the day by addressing the Climate Summit for Mayors, offering his unique perspective on public/private partnerships to advance sustainability in cities.

Richard also spent time learning about the specific challenges mayors of cities face, including a meeting with the Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson. Vancouver is aiming to be the greenest city in the world by 2020, and will be the first city that The Carbon War Room will partner with to accelerate private funding of sustainability initiatives.

After speaking at a deforestation conference Richard joined President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives on the world’s first fuel-cell-powered long haul ship. The venue emphasised the important role that innovation and business play in climate solutions.

The final event of the day was a gathering of friends and potential investors of The Carbon War Room hosted by Richard and José Mariá Figueres, the former President of Costa Rica and now Chairman of The Carbon War Room and Global Observatory.
