A unique approach
The company works with small, relatively unknown winemakers meaning that local communities benefit from this approach to doing business differently.
Virgin Wines also actively supports charities close to the hearts of their staff located near their UK head office in Norwich.
What do they support?

• |
The Fairtrade Project |
|
|
Through sales of their Fairtrade range, Virgin Wines has contributed over £15,000 to a new computer centre and library at a primary school in South Africa.
|

• |
Philippi Township Project |
|
|
The Township Winery is a partnership between Virgin Wines, South Africa's leading wine guru Graham Knox, and township developer Kate Jambela to develop a winemaking project in a township near Cape Town.
|
Local charities supported by the company include the East Anglian Air Ambulance and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
Work with Virgin Unite
Virgin Wines has been working with Virgin Unite to explore and develop new initiatives that will help them expand their global social investments. The aim is to deliver greater impact to the small wine makers and local communities they support. This is top secret, so all we can say now is… it’s like letting a wine breathe! You’ll have to be patient...
Impact?
Virgin Wines works hard to stock and profile small winemakers and shout about the work that they are doing. This helps the economic prosperity of smaller wineries and regions.

Money raised for the project has also provided day care centres for the local community and jobs to staff them. Training for staff is paid for by the project to ensure high standards of care and education. |

Philippi Township Project |
|
|
The winery project is in the planning stages. The partner’s aspiration is for it to become a focus for the whole community. It will have a training centre, restaurant, and marketplace.
Last year, Virgin Wines staff and friends raised £2,500 for local charities. |
Here’s what they are saying:
Louise Truswell, PR Manager, Virgin Wines:
“Here at Virgin Wines, we are committed to supporting local communities. We do this largely by finding small, undiscovered winemakers to profile their talents and their skills. We find that it’s a win-win situation as, at the same time, it allows us to bring our customers great tasting wines of exceptional quality.”
