Virgin Life Care

South Africa

Virgin Life Care is a health management company which aims to improve the health and vitality of its members by helping them manage diet and exercise. They do this through a combination of questionnaires and various online tools.

A unique approach

They aim to change people’s unhealthy lifestyles and improve their lives. The idea is to give people the tools they need to lead healthy lives themselves.

Virgin Life Care gives people living in townships the opportunity to harvest their own fruit and vegetables by transforming vacant land into areas where they can grow crops, and also educate them about healthy living.

What causes do they support?

They give local township communities the tools they need to create more nutritious meals and also encourage physical activity. To do this, they work with Virgin Unite and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Work with Virgin Unite

They say they enjoy working with Virgin Unite because we also believe in the well-being and happiness of people and the sustainability of our planet. Virgin Life Care also value our entrepreneurial approach – together our work creates healthy communities.

Impact?

Virgin Life Care supplied compost seeds and gardening equipment so that staff were able to help plant vegetable gardens in schools in poor areas, to help provide nutritious meals for children.

Virgin Life Care staff also built a “jungle gym” for Graceland Crèche in Khayelitsha. Play is not only an important and cherished part of childhood, it’s vital in promoting healthy development in children, contributing to their cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being.
