About the Virgin Village

Virgin Unite

8 Apr 2009 Virgin Unite

What we'll fund and why

Lai Gow is a small rural community in Udaipur in Northern India. It is home to approximately 2,500 people, who belong to the lowest caste in India’s hierarchy, known as the Adivasis. These people are among the poorest in India.

There are 400 children who live in the community and 350 of these do not attend school, but work long hours in conditions that most of us would find intolerable.

In association with the charity Free the Children, it is our aim, and we hope, yours, to raise £150,000 to help the children of Lai Gow to break free from the cycle of poverty which grips their whole community.
