2012 Winners: Eva’s Awards for Ending Youth Homelessness Sponsored by the Sprott Foundation in collaboration with Virgin Unite (Canada)

Eva’s Initiatives and the Sprott Foundation are pleased to offer four awards of $25,000 each for organizations working with homeless and at-risk youth. The goal of the awards is to recognize community initiatives that are:

- Moving beyond responses to the most basic needs of at-risk youth

- Demonstrating significant impacts in the lives of vulnerable youth

- Delivering programs or services aimed at preventing youth homelessness

- Breaking the cycle of homelessness among youth by integrating supports

Aslo including: housing, education, employment, family connections, and interventions to address mental health concerns and/or addictions.

Youth Opportunities UnlimitedYouth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU): Based in London, ON and working with 3,600 youth each year, providing training, skills development, supports and referrals to assist youth in developing their potential and leading positive lives.

The Back Door:  A Youth Employment Society in Calgary, AB, providing community support for youth who are making self-directed changes to move their life experience from street dependency to mainstream sustainability.

Centre résidentiel et communautaire Jacques-Cartier: A multi-service centre for 16 to 35 year olds in Québec City providing 27 units of transitional housing, social enterprise café, woodworking shop, circus art program, collective kitchen and garden, and arts initiatives.
