We Made It!!!!!!!!!!
What a week!
We thought as we were planning this year’s Big Ride that this was going to be a tough route and we weren’t wrong! The first day from Belfast to Dublin turned out to be 134 miles and all four teams were in the saddle for over 12 hours! Tuesday was also a long day as the ‘Swift’ ferry to Holyhead was cancelled due to severe weather and the ‘Cruise’ ferry landed us 1 hour later than planned. It was about midday before we got stuck into the cycling and we had 82 miles to cover including climbing through the Snowdonia mountain range!
In total we covered 461 miles in the 5 days arriving into London at 5pm on Friday 12th September having experienced some challenging conditions but beautiful scenery! A big "thank you!" to all those involved in helping us make this a great success, in particular we would like to thank Nokia, Samsung and Sagem for their sponsorship of the teams!
If you haven’t supported us yet please give what you can, the money we raise will go to help the below charities:
Starfish.
Starfish is a South African grass roots charitable organisation, working to empower vulnerable children left orphaned or affected by the AIDS / HIV crisis. For more information visit www.starfishcharity.org.
Foyer Media Centre Project.
Virgin Media is working with The Foyer Federation to broaden its residents' horizons through learning media skills. The funds we raise will go towards developing Foyer’s Media Centre programme, which explores how young people can engage in learning and overcome exclusion using media technology. Foyer works with over 10,000 homeless young people in the UK each year, providing them with accommodation and personal support as they make the transition into adulthood. For more information visit www.foyer.net.
