Richard hosts Connection Trip to South Africa

Richard and Virgin Unite CEO, Jean Oelwang headed to South Africa in December to host a group of Virgin Unite’s 24902 community members, as they experienced a once in a lifetime connection trip, to see some of the Virgin Unite initiatives in South Africa, like the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship.

Take a look at the group's video diary…

In Johannesburg, the team were given a personal tour of the businesses of two Branson Centre entrepreneurs Thabo Masilo, founder of XTX Recycling and Lesego Malatsi, founder of Mzansi Designers. The team went on to do a mentoring session at the Centre before attending the South African launch of Richard’s new book ‘Screw Business as Usual’ in the spectacular setting of rooftop bar, Randlords.

They then headed on to the beautiful surroundings of Richard’s private game reserve, Ulusaba in search of the ‘Big 5’. The team visited local community projects, taking part in the opening of a new Pride ‘n Purpose supported crèche (thanks to the generous donation from Christian Slater for Richard’s 60th Birthday), witnessed the work of the Bhubezi Clinic and took part in giving the gift of hearing aids to nearly 500 people, thanks to the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
