Our suppliers support Procurements inaugural quiz night and help us raise over 25k for our 2009 India Village Appeal.
The red carpet was rolled out the other week as the Procurement team hosted their first ever suppliers quiz night at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Crawley.
Hosted by our very own Julie Southern, Steve Griffiths and Andrew Walker, Head of Procurement, over 40 teams came along to compete for some fantastic prizes and raise essential funds for this years' Indian Village Appeal.
With spirits high and champagne flowing, the evening kicked off with a Virgin quiz followed by a successful raffle and high flying auction.
With an entertaining presentation from Dom Hodge, Cabin Safety Trainer, selling the benefits of our course 'Expect the Unexpected', in true Virgin spirit the crowds were then treated to the unexpected as one supplier decided to shake things up a little. Deciding he wanted a taste of the high life he shimmied down the aisles in a size 6 skirt, high heels shoes and red 'pouted' lip stick to match. Whether he was 'Red Hot' or not many were undecided but he certainly delighted an already excited audience and helped raise an extra £500.
In the lead up to the evening the Procurement team worked long and hard to ensure the evening was not only an overwhelming success, but the meticulous planning and preparation certainly payed off, as Andrew Walker highlights 'My team have worked really hard over the last couple of months to ensure the evening was a tremendous success, all our suppliers had a great time and due to everyone's generosity the evening cost virtually nothing to put on'.
In total the fun filled evening managed to raise over £25k for the Indian Village which is fantastic news and as Julie Southern highlights 'On the night, it was very clear that the Procurement team had done a fantastic job of organising everybody and everything so ensuring that the evening went brilliantly.
It was obvious it was a real team effort and I would like to thank the whole team for all of their hard work. The evening was a huge success and despite the fact that we took lots of money out of everyone's pocket, people really enjoyed themselves. Well done and thank you!'
