DO A little, change a LOT...
Donate your old phone and help build a village.
Do you have an old mobile phone collecting dust at home? It’s normal to feel ashamed of still owning that old brick phone, that's why it's still in the draw, but don't worry the Community Investment team at Virgin Atlantic is here to help you, as charity begins at phone. This year we're running our very own global Phone Amnesty, giving you the opportunity to dump the junk and raise cash.
To ensure your phone gets to us, you can either send it to the Community Investment team via co-mail, drop it into one of the Phone Amnesty collection bins found in both the Office & Base receptions or post it to the address shown below.
- Mobile phone users in the UK are replacing their handsets on average every 18 months.
- 90 million mobile phones and PDAs lying unused in the UK alone, and this figure is set to increase as people upgrade their handsets for new and better features.
Mobiles and PDAs have become fashion accessories, and this is accelerating the demise of perfectly good equipment.
The components in these kinds of equipment can take centuries to break down if put in landfill, and can leach dangerous toxins into the ground.
All mobiles have essential components that can be recycled, Recycling stops you from adding to this problem and equally you can help us raise needed cash for our 2009 Indian Village Appeal.
So what are you waiting for you should be relieved to know The Phone Amnesty starts now.
