Public Enemy benefit concert for National Homeless Youth Awareness month

To mark this year's National Homeless Youth Awareness month, Public Enemy performed a benefit concert at George Washington University in Washington, DC, sponsored by Virgin Mobile USA on the 18th of November.

The successful concert raised more than $25K through ticket sales to benefit Sascha Bruce House, a non-profit organisation serving at-risk youth and their families in Washington, DC.

"These are very difficult times for poor families in Washington, and for months we’ve been seeing increasing numbers of young people seeking respite at our emergency shelter," said Deborah Shore, Sasha Bruce Youthwork Executive Director. "This concert is great news. We need support for our young people now more than ever."

Public Enemy also invited the homeless young people staying at Sasha Bruce House to attend the evening's concert as their special guests.

Concertgoers also donated 300 new or gently used coats to Serve DC's 'One Warm Coat' initiative.
